This role spanned everything from managerial tasks to process management and copywriting.

As part of my BAU, I worked across promotions, campaigns, landing pages, emails, socials, paid media, and calendar moments (eg. the summer sale, cyber and Black Friday, Christmas, Advent, and the winter sale). In the period Jan 2024 to June 2024, I completed 571 BAU briefs – the highest across the 11-person Copy Team.

In addition to BAU, I owned the Cult Beauty blog process. This involved planning the monthly content calendar, with a priority focus on fulfilling business requests and brand buy-ins (often totalling more than £10,000 in package costs) while maintaining an editorial and organic feel to the blog. Other key responsibilities within this included: hosting blog pitching sessions; creating briefs; editing copy; commissioning features from writers/influencers; liaising with finance department on invoice payments; liaising with SEO Team to ensure optimisation and reduction of bugs; liaising with other teams (eg. Comms, CRM, Social) to push 360 marketing of the blog.

Further to the above, I managed two direct reports (a Junior Copywriter and a Midweight Copywriter), editing all of their work and providing constructive feedback, in addition to supporting their personal and professional growth. As well as looking after my own direct reports, I assisted the Copy Manager and other Senior Copywriter in managing and editing their direct reports in their absence. In lieu of the Copy Manager, I took the lead in assigning workload, liaising with other team leads, managing team process, and attending internal and external meetings. What's more, in this senior position I supported with QAing projects within the team (eg. inclusive copy guides, the yearly trend report).

Writing features for Cosmopolitan UK's online and print editions, including investigative long reads requiring on-the-ground field work (eg. my deep dive into what the Met has changed since Sarah Everard's murder) as well as first person accounts (eg. telling the story of what life is like for women in Iran right now).
The role also included pitching and writing daily content on site, including breaking, royal, and celebrity news, as well as covering health, wellness, fitness, fashion, and beauty trends, and opinion-led reactive pieces. In 2022, my news stories alone brought in over 18 million unique users to the site. This is all whilst editing the work of junior colleagues – utilising my impeccable grammar, spelling, and proofreading skills – and juggling target-driven SEO and e-commerce pieces.
